All is answered in this hilarious and heartfelt story, inspired by the firsthand experience of a five-year-old who reluctantly relinquished her beloved first fallen baby tooth to the Tooth Fairy.
She then discovers that her tooth was a key to a special club reserved for kids who practice good oral hygiene.
This book helps preparing your child for the visit, answers many questions and sets kids up to have a magical and meaningful experience.
Don’t miss an opportunity to make this age-old tradition a special childhood memory.
The final page of the book includes a log to commemorate the dates your child lost their baby teeth and thanks them for participating in the Tooth Exchange Program.
This book was jointly authored by Lily (5-year-old at the time of writing) and her father, Noam.
It is a very close account of the events that happened on the day Lily lost her first baby tooth at school.
Lily was initially very excited about the tooth fairy’s first visit but when the time came to give away her first baby tooth; Lily got very sad about never seeing her tooth friend again.
While her parents suggested keeping the tooth for a few days until she was ready to say goodbye; Lily decided that as sad as she was to part with her beloved tooth- giving it to the tooth fairy was the right choice.
The following morning, Lily and her dad discovered a letter from the tooth fairy that thanked Lily for her tooth and explained the wonderful purpose behind this ageless tradition of helping the fairy do her important work.
The sequence of events in the ~24 hours between the tooth falling and discovering the letter from the fairy were very amusing so the dad/daughter duo decided to write it down.
Initially, there was no intention of publishing this story and Lily and her dad were very happy to simply keep it as a memento of the time they spent together writing it.
However, upon reading it to family, classmates, and other friends, they were encouraged to publish it and make it available to all kids.
As we’ve come to find out, many children experience mixed emotions after losing their first baby tooth;
Sure, there’s the excitement and anticipation for a visit from a magical fairy who will trade your tooth for some money, but some children also feel that they are giving away a part of themselves.
For some children (and parents), the transactional nature of this experience doesn’t seem too appealing, and many kids even have reservations about having the Tooth Fairy visit them mainly because they don't understand the reason for the exchange beyond the monetary payoff.
In Lily’s case, she developed an emotional attachment to her first detached tooth, so trading it for a couple of dollars didn’t seem like such a great deal.
The story humorously yet sensitively addresses those concerns and gives this age old practice a beautiful meaning.
This video was taken on the day Lily lost her first tooth and the morning after. It shows a lot of our inspiration to write the book.
The book promotes several positive messages:
- Fair trade- no money is given if no tooth is exchanged.
- Purpose- you are helping the Fairy achieve a very important task that will in turn benefit others.
- Practice good oral hygiene- a tooth that is well taken care of has more magical powers.
- Tradition- following an ageless tradition that is celebrated all over the world.
- Inclusivity- every child is eligible to join The Tooth Fairy Club. It’s one of very few traditions that is beloved by all people regardless of age, culture, politics, borders, social standing, or any other differences.
